چکیده

Bactrocera oleae is the key pest of olive production. Several attempts have been carried out over time to control it using biological solutions but with results rarely comparable those obtained chemical applications. The purpose this work was identify and test new compounds from samples various Smoke Waters (SWs) for their effect on fly, given low impact environment. SWs different feedstocks were used in vitro open field shown alter B. fitness, acting its microbiome, particularly presence activity primary endosymbiont “Ca. Erwinia dacicola”, also affect behavior adult flies, altering attractiveness drupes susceptible attack. effects recorded concentration-dependent varied among repulsion, up 87% towards females, indecision, 70% males, attraction, fresh green olives, based starting materials. These responses confirmed electroantennography trials during two-years South Central Italy. Gas Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry highlighted such as guaiacol hydroquinone potentially important observed activity. Principal Component Analyses proximity similar feedstocks. In controlled conditions, females appear be more sensitive SW treatments. Field how can lead depression infestation levels obtainable other well-known compounds, kaolin clay isopropyl-myristate (repulsive), or pheromones (attractive).

Acetobacter tropicalis is a major symbiont of the olive fruit fly (Bactrocera oleae).

Following cultivation-dependent and -independent techniques, we investigated the microbiota associated with Bactrocera oleae, one of the major agricultural pests in olive-producing countries. Bacterial 16S rRNA gene libraries and ultrastructural analyses revealed the presence of several bacterial taxa associated with this insect, among which Acetobacter tropicalis was predominant. The recent in...

Computer Design of Novel Pesticides Against the Olive Fruit Fly (Bactrocera oleae)

The olive fruit fly Bactrocera oleae targets the fruits of olive trees in the Mediterranean and has been causing increasing economic harm to Californian growers. Past efforts to combat Bactrocera oleae by limiting the spread of its population have included traps, bait sprays, barrier films, and the release of natural predators, but these methods do little against large populations and many frui...

Reduction of olive fly, Bactrocera oleae (Rossi, 1790), damage by selecting native and exotic olive cultivars

Olive fly is the most dangerous pest in olive groves worldwide. Therefore the study of the most susceptible and resistant cultivars to olive fly can bring new information to diminish the olive flies harmful impacts. The main goal of the present study is to verify the olfactory response of olive fly to olive volatiles from five native Iranian cultivars (Fishomi, Mari, Rowghani, Shengeh, and Zard...
